Notice of Race 2019


The Prokids Bonaire Mega Sports Event is organized and hosted by the Stichting Aquaspeed Bonaire Windsurfers.


2.1 The 15th Prokids Bonaire Mega Sports Event will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2021. These include Appendix B (windsurfing competition rules), this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.

2.2 Rules of local authorities like the Bonaire Marine Park will be applied as displayed on the Official Notice Board.


3.1 Racing will be for men and women in the following fleets:
• Slalom
• Freestyle

There is no restriction on equipment that may be used. 3.2 Within these fleets the following age categories (divisions) may be recognized:
• Baby Class 7 or under* (ages 4 – 7) (Freestyle Only)
• Beginners 9 or under* (ages 8 – 9) (Slalom and Freestyle)
• Kids 13 or under* (ages 10 – 13) (Slalom and Freestyle)
• Super Kids 15 or under* (ages 14 – 15) (Freestyle Only)
• Big Kids 17 or under* (ages 16 – 17) (Freestyle Only)
• Master 35+* (Slalom Only)
*On the official registration day, Friday, May 24th, 2019.

3.3 Entries should be made in advance by completing the pre-entry form on the website; alternatively, entries can be made on the day of registration.

3.4 All Competitors under the age of 18 are required to submit a Parent/Guardian Declaration form, completed and signed by the parent/guardian before commencing racing.

3.5 A competitor does not become eligible for series or event points by ‘pre-entering’, but only by registering at the event and being capable of sailing and intending to do so.

3.6 Before competing, each competitor shall: register for the event at the race office and pay the required entry fee and complete, update or confirm an equipment registration form if required.

3.7 No entry will be accepted after 15:00 on the first scheduled day of racing, except at the discretion of the organizing committee.

3.8 Depending on the number of participants per category the race committee can decide to merge or part categories.


Competitors shall confirm entry details with the Registration team by 08:00 on the first morning of racing. Heat numbers will be posted on the ONB before racing commences. There will be a welcome and briefing for all competitors each morning of racing at 08:30.


Sailing instructions will be downloadable from the Prokids 2019 event website within 5 days before the start of the event and will be posted on the Official Notice Board events ( Questions at the event should be written down and given to the race committee who will post answers on the ONB.


6.1 The event Registration desk is located near the office at the event site and will be open on Friday, May 24th, 2019 from 14:00 till 18:00.

6.2 There will be no maximum number of races per day. The warning signal for the first race on the first day will not be before Saturday, May 25th, 2019 at 09:00.

6.3 There shall be no warning signal after 16:00 on the last day of the event Sunday, May 26th, 2019.

6.4 The Schedule of races and distribution of heats will be posted at least one (1) hour before the first start of that day.

6.5 The schedule of races may be varied due to weather or wind conditions. Changes in the schedule of races will be posted on the ONB at least 30 minutes before the 1st race on which it will be effective.


The Low Point scoring system of Appendix A will apply. Each Board’s series score will be the total of his/her race scores with his/her worst score discarded after three (3) or more rounds are completed. After seven (7) or more race two (2) of his/her worst scores will be discarded. And after ten (10) or more race three (3) of his/her worst scores will be discarded.


8.1 The racing area(s) and the courses will be as illustrated on the ONB. The course diagram, start and finish, (not to scale) will be posted at least 1 (one) hour before the first race of that day on the ONB.


9.1 To display clearly readable sail numbers on each sail and on each side of the sail, preferably in large black letters and numbers. Racing without numbers or without readable numbers on the sail(s) will result in not being scored as finished. Changes in sail numbers should be announced to the race officials; if not, this will result in not being scored as finished.

9.2 While racing, competitors shall, for the duration of the event, wear the event jersey provided by the organization. If competitor’s jersey is lost or stolen, competitor must acquire a new one at retail cost.


There will be no possibility to file protests. Any conflicts between competitors arisen during the competition should be submitted to the Race Director and will be settled by his decision.


Parents or guardians of minors have their responsibility for their children and to make the decision as to whether he or she is fit to sail in the conditions that prevail or are forecast. And if necessary advise their children to wear a buoyancy aid or life jacket to an appropriate standard when afloat.


The organizing authority and any other party involved in the organization and conduct of the Stichting Aquaspeed Bonaire Windsurfers disclaims any liability for personal injury, personal or material damage whatsoever, sustained prior to, during or after the Prokids Bonaire Mega Sports Event 2019.
